As a featured part of the 235,625-acre Mount Rainier National Park, this summit includes an active volcano covered by 35 square miles of snow and ice. With ancient forests, snow-country sports, camping and sub-alpine beauty, this area is quite popular and serves as an excellent opportunity for climbing expeditions in training. As a mid-sized summit, Mt. Rainier at 14,410 feet (4,392 meters) holds challenges and picturesque beauty for a training climb. It is the fifth oldest park in the U.S. and the highest and third most voluminous volcano of the Cascade Range.
