At 22,834 feet (6,962 meters), Aconcagua is the second highest of the Seven Summits. Part of the Andes mountains, Aconcagua is located 60 miles east of Santiago, Chile, just across the border from Argentina. Sometimes referred to as the "Stone Sentinel", it is known to attract extremely high winds well in excess of 100 mph. This weather phenomenon is referred to as Viento Blanco (White Wind) and has earned Aconcagua another nickname, The Assassin.
